Yorkshire's purpose-built option: five indoor acrylic courts with permanent lines and proper nets, inside a converted bakery warehouse north of the city. It's the place to play when you want the real surface rather than a taped badminton hall, and you can book a court by the session.

Pickleball courts in York
York punches above its size for pickleball. There's a purpose-built five-court centre in a converted bakery north of the city, pay-and-play hall courts at Energise in Acomb, and a members' tennis club in Poppleton that painted lines on court 6 and left the nets in the clubhouse. All three are verified, with booking routes below.

The 6 best places to play in York
West York's leisure-centre route into the game: pickleball runs on the sports hall's badminton courts and books in 40 or 60 minute slots through the Better app, members or not. Ideal for a quick weekday hit with your regular four.
A tennis club that quietly painted pickleball lines on court 6 and left nets and balls in the clubhouse for anyone curious. It's members only, so this suits Poppleton locals already in the club or tempted to join, rather than drop-in visitors.
Paddles provided
East York's sports centre plays pickleball on its badminton courts with tennis-style nets, open to members and non-members through the Better app. Its own page even explains the scoring, which is generous of it.

York's leisure centre at Monks Cross, with pickleball courts bookable for 40 or 60 minutes on the badminton courts. Another option in one of England's busiest pickleball cities.
